Apple iPad 2018 (6th Gen) Impressions

Let’s say you want to buy a tablet and you don’t want to spend much, well the obvious option is to get the sixth-generation iPad that Apple just announced. I guess there’s a Windows tablet, but at this price point, they are not good. Android tablets, they’re basically dead, they don’t exist anymore. There’s only one Chromos tablet and who knows if it’s any good, I don’t think it will be that good. Amazon tablets are basically only good for watching Amazon Prime and reading Kindle books. So the iPad which starts at $329 isn’t just the obvious option, it’s basically the only option. Thank God it’s so good.

So here is the deal with the new iPad, Apple announced it in an educational event so you might think it’s an educational only iPad, but it’s basically just the new iPad. Everything about this iPad is almost exactly the same as last year’s iPad. It has the same very good screen, but it isn’t laminated which means theirs is a tiny little air gap from the glass to the screen. Unless you’re really a pixel pedant, it’s not going to bother you. It has the same touch ID software, cameras however it does not have the smart connector for attaching the keyboard. It’s basically the same iPad that you know and loves.

Okay, so what’s actually new? Well, only two things. One is that it has a new processor the A10, so it’s slightly faster and two, it supports the $99 Apple pencil. One thing you should keep in mind though is that this still only has 2 gigs of RAM. Now, for normal apps that are going to be no problem. It does support a lot of the same multitasking features as the bigger iPads. However, you cannot actually get three apps up at the same time like on the iPad Pro. Now comes the audio quality, they do have stereo speakers, but they are both at the bottom, so they sound decent. Now let’s talk about the new Apple Pencil support. You can use it to navigate the interface or you can actually use it for drawing and typing.

If we go by the detail specification, it has an A10 Fusion processor, which is about as advanced as you could expect with a display size of 9.7 inches. Apple stated that with the new A10 processor in the new iPad is more powerful than most normal PC laptops and almost all Chromebooks. The Storage of the device is 32GB and it can be upgraded to 128GB. Apple has made this device by keeping in mind about the students so they have focused heavily on cloud storage, schools will get 200GB of iCloud storage for free. Now talking about the camera, it has a rear-facing 8MP camera offering 1080p HD video and the front-facing camera is 1.2MP which supports 720p HD video recording. It has a battery life of 10-hours, a touch ID, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a compass.

So in all, it might not the best or the perfect, but for now, Apple’s 2018 iPad is the low-cost tablet that you can have with the educational features. Please let me know what you guys think about Apple’s new iPad 2018, so leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
