Apple iPad 2018 (6th Gen) Impressions

Let’s say you want to buy a tablet and you don’t want to spend much, well the obvious option is to get the sixth-generation iPad that Apple just announced. I guess there’s a Windows tablet, but at this price point, they are not good. Android tablets, they’re basically dead, they don’t exist anymore. There’s only one Chromos tablet and who knows if it’s any good, I don’t think it will be that good. Amazon tablets are basically only good for watching Amazon Prime and reading Kindle books. So the iPad which starts at $329 isn’t just the obvious option, it’s basically the only option. Thank God it’s so good. So here is the deal with the new iPad, Apple announced it in an educational event so you might think it’s an educational only iPad, but it’s basically just the new iPad. Everything about this iPad is almost exactly the same as last year’s iPad. It has the same very good screen, but it isn’t laminated which means theirs is a tiny little air gap from the glass to the screen. Unless yo...

Do cellphones cause cancer?

You’ve probably heard that cell phones could cause cancer. Are we developing cancer from cellphones? The world health organization labeled phone radiation possibly carcinogenic in 2011. A current understanding of radio waves says that generally, phones shouldn’t give you cancer but we are still doing research to find out if it’s true in practice.  The radiation sounds really scary but you shouldn’t necessarily be scared by it. The FM radio waves that are being generated that’s also radiation, visible lights are also radiation. Phone radiation is similar, the problem is there is a second type of radiation that actually does harm people that are known as ionizing radiation. So things like X-rays and some Ultraviolet light, ionizing radiation can damage your DNA which can eventually lead to cancer according to the theory of the American Cancer Society. Phone radiation is non-ionizing, meaning it does not damage your DNA. So if it does cause cancer then it’s through some mec...

Android Go: Everything you need to know

Google's initiative to bring a high-quality experience to affordable entry-level devices with Android Go made a pretty big splash at Mobile World Congress 2018. While the high profile devices from companies like Samsung typically steal all the attention at MWC, it's important to pay attention to emerging markets especially when Google believes it's next billion users will come from countries like India.   Android Go is a super lightweight version of Android that optimized for phones with lower specs and a gigabyte of RAM or less so none of these phones are really going to blow you away in terms of numbers. Google has created less intensive versions of many of their apps to ensure that the performance is smooth on this much more mundane hardware and for the most part, you're not losing out on much with the go versions of their apps. The Android apps in Android Go now take up way less space. Google has replaced all default apps with Go Edition apps such as Map...

Google Clips: Wireless Smart Camera

Let's talk about Google Clips, it's a $250 smart camera that uses Artificial Intelligence to detect and capture important moments in your life. Now if you are a parent or a pet owner, you're probably familiar with the frustration of trying to capture great candid's of your kid's or pet's activities. Maybe you're familiar with having a ton of photos and videos of your family members, but you're not any one of them because you're always the one behind the camera. Now Google things clips can solve that frustration by providing a camera that can do all of the shooting for you. The clip is a simple automatic point and shoot camera that's similar looking to a go pro, but it's considerably smaller. It has a fixed focus lens, with a 130-degree field of view, a single button, and a few LED but no display. It connects to an iPhone, Google Pixel, or Samsung Galaxy S7 or S8 through Bluetooth or WIFI direct, to download the images it captures and...

MWC: VIVO Apex: In-screen Fingerprint + Pop-up Selfie Camera.

At CES 2018 VIVO unveiled the world's first in display fingerprint sensor and at MWC 2018 they have taken that idea to the next level. It is the Apex concept Smartphone and now let's take a look and see what it can do. Now because this is a concept phone VIVO didn't really focus on the specifications or the processor or anything about it. It's really more about what this phone can do, or what this phone has to offer and what potential we see in the future. The first thing you are going to notice is that the front is basically all screen and the bezels are extremely tiny. As the bezels are so small so you don't have room for the traditional stuff that you are used to seeing on a Smartphone like the front facing camera, the proximity sensor or an earpiece. They had to find out a clever way to hide or implement all that stuff. So because it doesn't have an earpiece, it actually uses vibrations that are sent to the glass in order for you to hear audio thro...

MWC: All new Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ with improved cameras, ARmoji and more

We're here ready to take a look at Samsung's latest device, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and tell you everything that it brings to the table considering this is the ninth generation of an already high powered line of Smartphone's. The phone basically looks exactly like the Galaxy S8 from last year except for one major difference. We've been complaining about the placement of the fingerprint scanner of the Galaxy S8 since it came out. So for the Galaxy S9, Samsung fixed it. They moved it from next to the camera, to below the camera which is way easier to reach even on the larger model. Now otherwise they are very similar design. You've got a 5.8-inch display on the S9, 6.2-inch display on the S9 plus. They are still super AMOLED screen, have the same high-resolution displays, curved sides that Samsung calls this infinite display that spills over the edge. You still have the power button and the volume rocker on the side and then, of course, there's the Bixby b...
